About this dog mom

I’m a mom to a dog. I’m the mom that would rather spend money on doggie daycare than leave her dog at home by herself all day. I’m that dog mom. I’m the mom that recognizes that less than a hundred years ago, dogs would go nearly everywhere with their humans, and today because of increased road traffic and how ways of life have changed, we have less opportunity to bring our dogs everywhere. Yes, I’m that dog mom. I am the mom who recognizes that our dogs live in a human world and aren’t completely aware of human rules. Yes, I am that dog mom. I am the mom that recognizes that there is a direct correlation between dog behavior and how we as humans treat them. Yes, I am that dog mom. I am the mom that learned these things after becoming a certified dog trainer and getting involved in the dog training community. I am the mom that hopes everyone around the world will know and recognize these concepts and have compassion toward all dogs everywhere. I am This Dog Mom.

My dog, Kila (KEE-lah), is a 3-year-old pitbull mix. My husband and I have had her since she was 4-months old. She has been such a blessing of love and made us a family, not just a couple. Then just 11 weeks ago, we became parents of a human baby!

These are my experiences as a mom of two girls—a dog and a human.
